Metro Manila rattled by a 5.3-magnitude earthquake

Manila, Philippines was rattled by a moderate earthquake that shook buildings, there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

According to US Geological Survey the 5.3-magnitude quake struck at 10:27am local time (0227GMT), 158 kilometres northeast of Manila. It had a depth of 38 kilometres.

The epicentre was near the town of Casiguran, 220 kilometres north of Manila, and was also felt in the surrounding areas including Manila.
