Manila cop accused of robbery-extortion killed

Philippine Daily Inquirer 2:28 am | Friday, June 22nd, 2012 A Manila policeman who had been linked to two cases of robbery-extortion involving foreigners was shot dead in Tondo Thursday morning. Police Officer 2 Reynaldo Faller Olivo Jr., 38, had just dropped off his son at Tondo High School and was on his way home on his motorcycle when two men shot him. As the victim fell off his motorcycle, one of them shot him in the face, case investigator Senior Police Officer 4 Paul Dennis Javier said. The victim, who was assigned to the Manila Police District Headquarters Support Unit, figured in the news after he was suspended in April for 90 days. This was after he was accused by three foreigners of robbery-extortion. On April 4, Iwasaki Kinitchi, a Japanese tourist, filed a complaint against him and another policeman, PO1 Vincent Paul Ubaldo Medina, claiming the two had threatened to charge him with being an illegal alien if he did not give them P155,000. The same charge was made by two Koreans who said the lawmen took P20,000 in cash from them.
