Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte hit back at Chelsea Clinton in response to a tweet by her condemning his comments about rape, Philippine President attacked the former first daughter during an event commemorating the 199th anniversary of the Philippine Navy on Wednesday, calling into question her father’s past sexual exploits with Monica Lewinsky.

Duterte said: "These whores, they hear "rape". Like, like Chelsea, she slammed me. I was not joking, I was being sarcastic. Listen to the speech. I do not laugh at my own jokes.'

"I will tell her, when your father, the president of the United States, was f***ing Lewinsky and the girls in the White House, how did you feel? Did you slam your father?'

The former first daughter had tweeted  'Not funny. Ever' in reaction to the news of Duterte's remarks on rape.

In a second post she wrote: 'Duterte is a murderous thug with no regard for human rights. It's important to keep pointing that out and that rape is never a joke.'

Duterte's troops are locked in battle with ISIS fighters in the city of Marawi in the south of the country.

Duterte and De Lima in TIME list of most influential people

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has topped the online poll for TIME list of most influential people, however the Magazine has decided to undermine Duterte's popularity by including the president staunches critic Senator Leila de Lima even-though no one voted for her.

The accompanying article for Duterte is done by former Colombian president César Gaviria, while the one for De Lima was written by former United States ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power.

Gaviria was also the one who wrote a New York Times opinion piece titled "President Duterte is repeating my mistakes", based on his own experiences in fighting Colombia's drug problem. Duterte called Gaviria an idiot for "lecturing" him on the war on drugs.

Duterte's "most vocal critic" De Lima, wrote former ambassador Power, has taken on "a role her friends call suicidal." Last year, Duterte himself had accused De Lima of facilitating the drug trade inside the national penitentiary.

Duterte Leads TIME's 2017 most influential survey

President Rodrigo Duterte still leading Time magazine's annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. As of press time, 76% of voters said Duterte should be on the "TIME 100." It also showed the the Philippine president at 4% of the online vote. Six individual are tied in the 2nd spot namely Pope Francis, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and actress Emma Watson. All of them got 3% of the vote.

Other personalities who made it to the poll include performers Lady Gaga (2%) and Beyonce (2%), author J.K. Rowling (2%), TV host Oprah Winfrey (2%) and athletes Michael Phelps (2%) and Simone Biles (2%).

US president Donald Trump, who was named TIME Person of the Year 2016, got 2% of the online vote.

Voting on the online poll closes at 11:59 p.m. E.T. on April 16.

Last December, Duterte also landed on the Most Powerful People list of Forbes magazine.

Duterte has made international headlines with a campaign against drugs that has seen thousands of suspected criminals killed.

He has also announced a "separation" from the United States and plans to realign the Philippines with China and Russia.

Vice President Leni Robredo Calls Her Critics Trolls

Vice President Leni Robredo called his critics “trolls” and said that she has no time to waste for them.

“I have no message for the trolls because I think it’s a lost cause. It’s a lost cause in the sense that they don’t know me, but they have already made a judgment,” she said in a television interview. When she was asked on GMA News TV to give a message to her critics, the Vice President said there was no point in trying to reach out to those who had closed their minds about her.

Their judgment is not coming from people who know me personally. Perhaps I can give a message to those who have open minds, but most of them have closed their minds, so there’s no point in wasting time on them,” Robredo said.

“Those with open minds are the ones whose comments matter to us, because it allows us to look at ourselves when we commit mistakes,” she said. “It’s also not right to keep getting praise when we are doing wrong,” she continued.    

Just Recently, a blogger accused her of living a life of luxury after she had a photo taken with her “personal yoga trainer.” Robredo has shrugged off her online critics, saying she has not even read Uson’s blog. “I would have to admit that I have not read her blog and I don’t intend to read it,” she said at an Inquirer forum in December.

Duterte Castigated Female Senator for being "Immoral" and "adulterer"

President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday in his speech at the 115th police service anniversary at Camp Crame, castigated a female senator for being an “immoral woman” for allegedly having an affair with her driver who also act as a collector of money for her during the election campaign. The senator who he didn't name always criticized his anti-drug campaign that resulted to a number of deaths.

“Here’s a senator complaining. One day I will tell you that her driver himself, who was a lover, was the one collecting money for her during the campaign. An immoral woman, insofar as the driver’s wife is concerned, it’s adultery.”

“Here’s a woman who funded a house of a lover and yet we don’t say any complaint about it,” he added.

“But in fairness, I would never say [clearly] that the driver gave (the money) to her but by the looks of it, she has it,” he said.

Duterte also said that the senator has no right to complain about the recent killings of drug suspects in the country when she herself has “a very sordid personal and official life.”

Last week, Duterte said that he was going to “destroy” a female official who keeps on criticizing his government.

Senator Leila de Lima Reaction

 

Senator Leila de Lima reacted angrily and said that the President Duterte has resorted to “character assassination” referring to the president's speach about an unnamed senator, whom he described as  an “immoral woman” for allegedly having an affair with a driver.

"May nagsabi nga sa akin ngayon lang so it’s very surprising. Ang first reaction ko ngayon, ayaw ko nang patulan yan. I don’t want to dignify that. It’s so foul. It’s  character assassination.”

“It’s  very foul. Saan  man nanggaling yang information na yan, sana dino-double check, sana inaalam ang source,” she said.

de Lima said she was unfazed by the President’s statements, saying these would not affect her resolve to investigate the spate of killings in the country under the  Duterte administration.

“Hindi po ako matitinag,”

“I don’t know kung ano ho ang agenda  that  they are  resorting  to  character assassination. That’s a very  clear case of assassination and I don’t expect the President to do that, sa totoo lang,” she said.
