Duterte Leads TIME's 2017 most influential survey
President Rodrigo Duterte still leading Time magazine's annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. As of press time, 76% of voters said Duterte should be on the "TIME 100." It also showed the the Philippine president at 4% of the online vote. Six individual are tied in the 2nd spot namely Pope Francis, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and actress Emma Watson. All of them got 3% of the vote.
Other personalities who made it to the poll include performers Lady Gaga (2%) and Beyonce (2%), author J.K. Rowling (2%), TV host Oprah Winfrey (2%) and athletes Michael Phelps (2%) and Simone Biles (2%).
US president Donald Trump, who was named TIME Person of the Year 2016, got 2% of the online vote.
Voting on the online poll closes at 11:59 p.m. E.T. on April 16.
Last December, Duterte also landed on the Most Powerful People list of Forbes magazine.
Duterte has made international headlines with a campaign against drugs that has seen thousands of suspected criminals killed.
He has also announced a "separation" from the United States and plans to realign the Philippines with China and Russia.
