The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) unveiled on Monday the new and improved clearance application system that brings down the process in obtaining a clearance from 6 steps to 3 steps:
- Online registration, appointment and e-payment
- Photo capture and fingerprint biometrics
- Clearance printing
Applicants can now register on the NBI clearance website. After accomplishing the application form online, the applicant may secure an appointment date for the second step step (photo and biometrics) and pay the processing fee.
You can pay the processing fee through:
- Online banking - you need to have local internet banking access like BDO, BPI, Metrobank, RCBC, Unionbank, UCPB, Chinabank, PNB, Maybank, Sterling Bank and Eastwest bank can pay online using real-time debit to their account.
- Over the counter (Bank) - customer can go to any participating bank and pay over the counter
- Over the counter (Non-bank) - customers can go to any outlet of Bayad Center, LBC and Robinsons Department Stores
- ATM and debit cards - for customers with ATM cards by BDO, BPI, Unionbank, Chinabank, Maybank, RCBC, PNB and UCPB can pay via ATM
- Mobile payment - G-cash
For the 2nd and last step (clearance printing) you will proceed to any of the 72 NBI clearance processing centers nationwide.
This will clearly shorten both waiting and processing time, and no more long lines.
They are also working on a system that would not require you to appear before the NBI office for clearance renewal. The "non-appearance renewal" system is set to be launched within the year.
