VP Robredo's Courtesy Call To President Rodrigo Duterte in Malacañang Palace
Vice President Ma. Leonora "Leni" Robredo on Monday visit President Rodrigo Duterte one-on-one at a courtesy call hours after she promised to support the Duterte administration.
A video clip from Presidential Broadcast Staff - RTVM shows, Robredo meeting President Duterte and they are seated engaged in conversation.
Robredo speaking at the Tapatan Media Forum that she'll support the current administration: "There is much work to be done," Robredo said, "but much to be gained in giving everything we have to this business of building our nation. As I said, we are in the cusp of something big and this is not the time to let go."
"Hindi po tayo makaka-afford mag-away-away. Masaydong marami tayong kailangan gawin. Ang anim na taon, mahaba iyon pero sa dami ng gagawin natin ay maiksi lamang iyon (We cannot afford wars. There's a lot to be done. Six years is a long time but because there's so much to do that's a brief period)," Robredo said.
Robredo added that an unhealthy preoccupation with opposing what should be done with the new government is a useless endeavor.
"Ako po bilang pangalawang pangulo [As vice president], I believe that the number one responsibility now is to help rally everyone behind the new administration," Robredo said.
"Hindi naman po ito para kay President Duterte lamang pero para ito sa sambayanang Pilipinas [we do this not for the sake of President Duterte but the Filipino people]," Robredo said.
