MRT Train Derailed
A Metro Rail Transit train went through the barrier and crashed outside the rails at the Taft Station Wednesday August 13, 2014 that injured at least 30 passengers according to a Television news report.
The accident also caused the MRT to stop operations for their other trains. The train for both southbound and northbound trips resumed at around 5 p.m., according to MRT management Twitter account.
“We are currently undergoing necessary intervention for the technical problem encountered. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
MRT spokesperson Hernando Cabrera during an interview said that the train came to a halt at the Magallanes Station due to technical problems and it was pushed by another train because it doesn't have power. The passengers were also trapped in the troubled train as there was no safe exit for them.
The train also hit an electric post outside the Taft Station. Luckily, no one was hit by the fallen electric post. The injured passengers were rushed to the Pasay City General Hospital.
