Senator Juan Ponce Enrile resigns as Senate President.
Senate President Juan Ponce-Enrile surprised everyone on Wednesday when he announced his irrevocable resignation from his post.
“As a matter of a personal honor and integrity, I hereby irrevocably resign as Senate President,” Enrile said in his privilege speech during the resumption of the Senate session at 3 p.m. on Wednesday after a three-month break.
There are talks that he would be replaced by Senator Franklin Drilon when the next Congress opens in July.
