Former President Benigno Aquino III will be in court to face criminal lawsuit over a botched anti-terror raid in Maguindanao province in 2015 that caused the death of 44 police commandos according to the Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales Friday.
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales ordered Aquino charged with usurpation of authority and violation of the anti-graft and corrupt practices act, the anti-graft body said in a statement.
Also included in the charges were Aquino's former national police chief, Alan Purisima and the former director of the police Special Action Force, Getulio NapeƱas.
